I did a little gleaning today from an old post and found a few donors who should'nt be forgotten. Had some great conversations also with Hank Mauel PM'ing back and forth today. Thanks Hank for your support and encouragement. Here are the things I think that were left off the list of donors I recently posted: John Hall, donation of a guitar building mold when we needed one back in January or February of the last orbit around the sun. Thanks John. Todd Rose, who purchased the used Blues Creek mold when Woolson finished his part. Thanks Todd. Mike Tobey, who sent shipping monies to the project. Thanks, Mike. There were a couple of donations offered but maybe not tendered because they were not needed at the time. We could probably use some shipping money soon as this guitar is on the move again. Thanks to all who offered shipping money. If you are still interested, just say so now. Thank you too. I hope it's okay to continue to post these occasional encouraging updates in the main forum. I'm keeping the Build Forum current with pertinent info though as well. PROFESSIONAL FINISHER NEEDED FOR THIS PROJECT. This guitar is destined for greatness. However, we do need a professional finish applied before it heads back out to Hank for the Fret JOB. Any of you guys got any suggestions? Thanks, Bruce PS In case you were wondering, why didn't that mold come to Arkansas with the guitar so I could glue the top? Anyone remember? (because the Woolson Linings make the rim rigid and the mold is no longer needed) BLAKE DYSON steps up to finish the OLF #2 Guitar Project. Thanks Blake. We'll get it too you ASAP. |

I threw a neck blank in the box when I shipped it to John Watkins. Don't know if he'll use it for the guitar or for firewood though. |

Thanks John, I'll go back up and add it. You said neck block, when you emailed and that confused me. I knew Woolson had installed a neck block. Now I get it. Neck Blank. |

Having only 2 under the belt, i feel that i'm not confident enough about my finishing skills, however, i would like to invite someone who knows more about FP than me to come forward and show support to Bruce and this great project. If i could, i certainly would but we need someone who isn't afraid to take that challenge, c'mon guys, let's show some SOLIDARITY for the sake of this caring community. Serge |

Mike, John Watkins will be needing to ship the guitar soon, it costs 30 to 40 USD$ I'd guess to ship that guitar to the finisher. We can put your name up there in lights like everyone else who's helped. |

I do waterbased finish. You had earlier asked for a finish person using nitro or French polish. I can do a nice finish, I used to be a finish man for a small guitar company. Let me know if you want a waterbased finish on the guitar and maybe we can work something out. Homeboy |

http://www.dysonguitars.com/Bio.htm Blake, I checked out your website and man was it ever enlightening. You have this guitar building down brother.... I decided just two days ago that if no one stepped up, I would do a Nitro finish myself. Your offer of a waterbased finish is equally as good. So it's a tie. Of course, since taking up the reins of the project, if I assigned this job to myself now, it would appear biased. So we must find a way to impartially decide the finish on the OLF #2. Serge, would you take this Morgan Dollar and flip it for us? "Sure". Thanks. Now, here are the ground rules, Heads, You win, Tails, I lose. Okay Serge go ahead and toss the coin. Serge, "It's up, and it's Tails, Bruce you lose. Blake is the winner and will do a waterbase finish on OLF #2" Well, can't win 'em all, congratulations Blake, I know you'll do a great job. I'll call you later, I'm headed out for breakfast. Thanks a MILLION Blake Dyson, please check out his Bio above, it's nice to make your acquaintance. Your pictures attest to your fine skills in finish. And if that isn't enough, your bio speaks for itself. ![]() |

Bruce it's a very minor oversight but I did my linings on this at the same time I did everything else. Might add that to the list. Thanks. P |

Paul, you win the prize. Earlier I posed the question: Why didn't Woolson send me the mold so I could glue the top on the OLF #2 Guitar. The answer: Your fine two part linings which stiffen the rim so much, you no longer need a mold. I'll just run up right now and make that addition. This is precisely what I wanted all involved to do, make these corrections. We are having a label which will recognize all these contributions, and it should be correct. Thanks Paul.... |

Slackkey, how would you feel about supplying a two way truss rod over to John Watkins place and an ebony bridge blank over to Hank Mauels. I talked to John today and the topic never came up, but I know that OLF 2 neck needs a truss rod, about $20, John may have 'em in stock? Also, Hank offered to make a smiley ebony bridge, one like he makes, if I'd get him a blank? about $7. Shipping was already covered by previous donations, and those funds are enroute guys. So, what do you think Slackkey? Bruce |
